What do Cinderella and Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw have in common?
Both of these women have taught us that a pair of shoes can change your life.
Can you afford 6.1 billion naira without flinching??
Then you’re in for a treat… As the world’s most expensive pair of shoes have been put up for sale, for a jaw-dropping $17 million, a whooping N6.1 billion, when converted to Nigerian naira.
A Dubai-based shoemaker named Jada Dubai unveiled the shoes at the Burj Al Arab hotel. “Dubai is the city of millionaires and billionaires… we see it as a potential market, along with the entire (Gulf) region,” said Hemant Karamchandani, chief executive of Passion Jewelers, which supplied the jewels.
The shoe took about 9 months to create, according to the maker of the shoe, and it is made out of leather, gold, silk and diamonds.
“there will be only one pair of The Passion Diamond Shoes in the world. “We had to prototype many shoes in Italy in order to find the perfect shape, perfect heel, the perfect color for it.
“Even inside, the logos of both companies are made out gold, which is very thin, so it will be very comfortable for walking”.
Once purchased, the shoes will be made specifically to fit the wearer’s feet. Only one pair will be made.
PEOPLE’S REACTION :
People on social media had a mixed reaction to the “world’s most expensive shoes”.
One person described them as “the most beautiful shoes” they had ever seen.
Another joked: “I guess these are my wedding shoes sorted.”
“If i bought those, I would be carried everywhere like Cleopatra,” someone else added.
But not everyone was impressed.
“They look uncomfortable AF,” said one Twitter user.
Money doesn’t buy you style apparently,” posted a second.
“For that price they better feel like bunny slippers when you wear them,” added a third.
And some were simply horrified by the high price.
“Millions of people are starving living under severe poverty. and certain people would by a pair of these highly expensive shoes . This is tooooo much,” commented one Instagram user.
“The sheer disconnect between people who can afford to buy these shoes and the rest of the world is mind boggling,” wrote another.
